Totolag village, Mota Lava

The Black Bamboo Band was formed with the young boys in Totolag on the island of Mota Lava. The song is about a boy who was elected to be the young chief of the boys in the village. It was his role to bring the boys together to learn to play traditional songs using local instruments and learning from the Elders and respected people on the island. A panpipe group from the Solomon Islands visited Mota Lava helped them to recall the use of the bamboo music and Mota Lava dance.
