Quetevut village, Gaua

This song is about the season for collecting a particular shell called Ngar. Ngar is a shell which is found in certain places in the sea. They are singing about how the Ngar was overharvested so one of the Ngar is crying to go back to the sea. The other Ngar that are in the village are saying “No, stay here, we should stay together” but the crying Ngar replies “No, can someone take me and hide me back in my home in the sea”.
